World-famous director of films such as Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet or Mullholand Drive, David Lynch (b. 1946, USA) is a grand figure in American cinema, known for his surrealistic vision. Lynch is a prolific artist, but few are aware of the extensive range of art making: before being a filmmaker, Lynch studied painting, and today, in addition to making films he devotes himself to drawing, printmaking, sculpture, music and photography. Lynch is a versatile artist who moves freely from one medium to another.

Every two years some of the world’s finest Photographers, Visual Storytellers, Photo Directors of leading magazines and Students gather together with institutions like World Press Photo and Magazines in the small town of Olten, Switzerland.  Based in the heart of Europe, they come to celebrate their common love for Photography and to educate and share their knowledge and passion. Because of the high caliber of Speakers, International Guests, participants and workshops, the IPFO has managed, after only two editions in 2017 and 2019, to become one of the finest Photo Festivals in the International World of Photography.
